Power Of NeuroGaming
During the summer of 2018 I worked for RAD Lab's PoNG program as a Job Coach and Team Leader. For the PoNG program, RAD Lab hired 25 individuals, the majority of whom were diagnosed with ASD, to create video games that the lab would used in the future. With the role of Job Coach I provided workpace support to five of these individuals, with the goal of helping them develop interpersonal and professional skills. In the role of Team Leader, I managed five individuals who worked together to develop a game targeted for toddlers that would develop eye-fixation accuracy.
My team of five interns were given the task of creating a video game for toddlers with Autism. The game focused of training fixation abilities through a light-hearted carnival game. In the game, the toddler uses their gaze to track balloons that are spawned on the screen. When they fixate on the balloon long enough, it pops. As levels advance, balloons are spawned faster and more balloons have to be popped to advance to the next level.
